Explore the magical sub-tropical island of Madeira, boasting lush green unspoiled countryside, a volcanic interior, dazzling floral displays, and some of the most sumptuous culinary delights to be found anywhere. Add to this a six-night stay at the iconic five-star Belmond Reid’s Palace Hotel, making this an unmissable tour of Madeira!

The sub-tropical island of Madeira lies just 300 miles off the coast of West Africa and has long been a favourite with our clients. It is easy to see why, with its pleasant year-round climate, stunning lush volcanic scenery and an abundance of flora and fauna, capped off with delicious cuisine and Madeiran Wine.

This single-centre tour of Madeira showcases the best of this island with a strong emphasis on its culinary delights and scenic backdrops. Our hotel for the duration is the iconic five-star Belmond Reid’s Palace, often regarded as the best hotel on the island, offering impeccable standards and service – not to mention a superb afternoon tea!

On this tour, we will explore the old town of Funchal and sample some of its local delicacies on a food tour, take 4×4 vehicles to the summit of the islands third highest peak to see the sun rising above the clouds, and take a whole day mini-cruise across to the Desertas Islands, said to be the ancestral lair of pirates. This is a leisurely paced tour and a very stylish way to experience this gem of an island.

      Words from Our Chairman…

“Over the last 30 years I have had the good fortune to visit Madeira many, many times. I have also had the enormous pleasure of staying at the very special Belmond Reid’s Palace several times.

When I think of Madeira, I think of Reid’s but I also think of the mountains and forests, the terraced valleys and stunning vistas! The British have had a long, very comfortable relationship with Madeira and it shows in the warmth of greeting and the exceptional levels of service we find.

Surrounded by deep Atlantic waters, delicious fresh fish is almost always on the menu – scabbard is usually served grilled with fried banana. Bacalhau – dried salted cod does not suit every visitor’s palate but I have enjoyed it in the past. Espetata, beef barbecued over a laurel fire is usually served with deep fried maize known as Milho Frito, I like this a lot! Do you know your Sercial from your Boal, you will after your visit to the Blandy Wine Lodge! We take you to the Pico do Arieiro. From here the views are simply stunning – take in the astonishing range of rock formations, left over from the volcanic creation of the island. On the way you pass through beautiful Laurisilva forests. From the twisty roads, you will glimpse views down ravines to tiny villages perched on rocky outcrops and sometimes all the way down to the Atlantic.

If you have not yet been to this magical island – now is your perfect excuse on this carefully thought out escorted group tour.”
