Few countries possess such an extraordinary cultural heritage as the Holy Land, one of the most evocative places in the modern world.

There are few places that ignite as much passion as the Holy Land. History and religion permeate every aspect of life, combining to form a diverse, fascinating culture, inseparable from modern politics. Visiting Israel and the Palestinian Territories is a powerful experience, embracing iconic religious sites, stunning Biblical landscapes, striking deserts, narrow medieval streets, vibrant modern cities, and astonishing ancient remains. This is also foodie heaven; savour the country’s rich gastronomic heritage, from street food to some top wines.

This tour enables you to explore the best-known archaeological and historical sites, including the Masada fortress and Caesarea, the seat of Herod the Great. You will uncover the religious significance of the Holy Land’s most revered monuments. Our tour finishes with two nights at the famous five-star Beresheet Hotel set on the edge of the Ramon Crater.

All in all, this is a memorable introduction to an extraordinary and evocative land, which will resonate long after you return home.

      Words from Your Tour Coordinator…

“My visit to Israel and the Palestinian Territories in 2016 sparked my passion for tourism in the Middle East. Tensions may be high in places, but Jerusalem really is an extraordinary city with its passionate cultures, long history and hospitable people. Here, there is a frisson of something ‘bigger’, an energy thrumming through its stones and architecture not found elsewhere. It’s hard to escape the conflicts of religion and of politics here, but Israel is a country that never fails to both challenge and excite its visitors. Our first escorted tour to the Holy Land traces the vast history of this land, from following in Jesus’ footsteps along the profound Via Dolorosa through the streets of the capital, to ascending the ancient fortress of Masada by cable car. View the politically charged Banksy artwork on the West Bank barrier. Complete with ample street food tours and a wine tasting, this is a unique taste of the Holy Land, exploring its highlights and gaining more of an understanding of the country’s complexities.”

      Itinerary

      Day 1 - Arrival (D)

On arrival, transfer to Haifa, a beautiful city on the Mediterranean, for a welcome dinner and overnight.

      Overnight: Haifa

      Day 2 - Haifa / Caesarea (B, L)

Kick off the morning in style with a delicious breakfast in Haifa’s picturesque German Colony, founded by German Templars in 1868. From the terrace, we then see the beautiful Baha’i Gardens, the second most sacred site of the Baha’i faith, the youngest of the major world religions. We follow the coast south to Caesarea, site of King Herod’s impressive palace, with a chance to dip our feet in the sea by its iconic aqueduct. This afternoon, enjoy a picnic and tasting at a local winery.

      Overnight: Haifa

      Day 3 - Megiddo / Nazareth (B, L, D)

Visit Megiddo – better known as the site of the future Armageddon – and strategically important for its position on the trade and military route linking Egypt with Mesopotamia and Asia Minor. This magnificent archaeological site has the buried remains of 26 different civilisations and, even before the purported Apocalypse, is said to have witnessed more battles in its long history than any other. Onwards to Nazareth, home of Jesus. The Basilica’s towering cupola stands over the grotto that tradition holds to have been the site of the Annunciation. En route, enjoy fresh juices and local specialties. Tonight, we stay in an authentic kibbutz on the Sea of Galilee.

      Overnight: Galilee

      Day 4 - Capernaum / Beit Shean (B, D)

After a tour of your kibbutz, enjoy a boat trip across the Sea of Galilee to Capernaum with its second century synagogue and the Church of the Multiplication, built on the spot where Jesus is said to have made a meal for 5,000 people with just five loaves and two small fish. Visit Israel’s largest archaeological site at Beit She’an (House of Tranquillity) with its 7,000 seat Roman theatre, Byzantine bathhouse, and elegant colonnaded streets.

      Overnight: Jerusalem

      Day 5 - Jerusalem (B, D)

Full day exploring Jerusalem’s treasures, beginning with the Mount of Olives for stunning views of the Old City. Walk down the Via Dolorosa and stroll through the Gardens of Gethsemane. Admire the healing Pool of Bethesda where Jesus is said to have cured a paralysed man. See the Antonia Fortress, where Pontius Pilate presented a scourged Jesus to the jeering crowds before the Crucifixion and visit the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Time to enjoy delicious street food for lunch.

      Overnight: Jerusalem

      Day 6 - Jerusalem / Bethlehem (B, L, D)

Visit the City of David, one of Jerusalem’s best archaeological sites. After lunch, drive to Bethlehem to see the Church of the Nativity, traditional site of Jesus’ birth, and pass by renowned street artist Banksy’s famous Walled-Off Hotel. This afternoon, return to Jerusalem for some free time in the market.

      Overnight: Jerusalem

      Day 7 - Nablus / Samaria (B, L)

Visit Mt Gerizim to meet a small Samaritan community who regard Gerizim to be the location chosen by God for a holy temple instead of Jerusalem’s Temple Mount. We will continue to nearby Nablus, a city renowned for its sweets, to enjoy some ‘sights and bites’. This afternoon, we go ‘off the beaten track’ to visit the ruins of the ancient city of Samaria which, according to Biblical tradition, was established in the 9th century BC.

      Overnight: Jerusalem

      Day 8 - Jericho / Dead Sea / Masada (B, D)

Our adventures begin today with a visit to Jericho, believed to be the oldest continuously inhabited city on Earth, to visit Hisham’s Palace. After lunch, spend time floating in the Dead Sea’s salty waters before finishing the day at the ancient fortress of Masada, ascending by cable car. Onwards to Mitzpe Ramon, our base for the next two night in the Negev Desert.

      Overnight: Mitzpe Ramon

      Day 9 - Mitzpe Ramon (B, L, D)

On our final full day, join a Jeep safari in the Ramon Crater, the world’s largest ‘erosion cirque’ and a spectacular national park and nature reserve. This afternoon, we visit a boutique winery in the heart of the desert for a tour and tasting before tonight’s special farewell dinner.

      Overnight: Mitzpe Ramon

      Day 10 - Departure (B)
